FAQ

  • What does a home inspection include?

The standards of practice for a professional home inspection are regulated by each state.  In general, however, home inspectors report on the "readily accessible and visually observable" components of the home.  These include site conditions, structural systems, exterior components, roof systems, plumbing systems, electrical systems, heating systems, cooling systems, interior components, insulation, ventilation, fireplaces, chimneys and attics.  Your service agreement contains the specifics of what is included according to your state's guidelines.

  • What does a home inspection NOT include?

Home inspections generally do not include components that don't affect the functionality of the house.  Systems like alarms, intercoms, audio/visual equipment, sprinklers, pools/hot tubs are beyond the scope of the inspection.  We will identify any defects or systems that require further evaluation, and suggest the best type of technician to assist you.  Your service agreement contains the specifics of what is included according to your state's guidelines.

  • How much do you charge?

We tailor each inspection to specifically match the needs of your new home.  When you contact us, we'll complete an intake questionnaire to determine what inspection services you need, and provide you with a free quote.  We also offer package discounts and custom ongoing services.

We offer discounts for military, first responders, HSLDA/Hertitage/LEAH members and active BNI members.

  • Are you licensed and insured?

Our inspectors are licensed in the states of New York and Connecticut, and are regulated by their respective agencies, which oversee home inspection licensing and standards of practice.  We are fully insured.

  • Do I attend the inspection of my new home?

Absolutely!  But it's not required.  In either case, we want to educate and inform you as best we can.  If you attend, we can discuss the property and answer any potential question you may have in person.  All inspections are followed up with a virtual conference or call to review the report.

  • What is your service area?

We provide service to the following counties:  Westchester, Rockland, Putnam, Orange, Dutchess, Ulster, Columbia, Fairfield, New Haven & Litchfield.  If you're outside of these counties, but in the states of NY or CT, please contact us for availability.
